The Danish capital is much loved for its beauty and tranquility, whilst the architecture and structure of Copenhagen brings together both city life and nature. The charm of this diverse city lies within its culture and customs, offering the perfect location for a unique vacation. Copenhagen by day and night is a thriving destination offering out of the ordinary activities and alternative environments. Originally a fishing village, the city has managed maintained its traditional features during its development and continues to expand providing a fun and vibrant atmosphere for the locals.
One place defiantly worth a visit is ‘Fisk’, know as a re-shop it lies at the heart of Copenhagen. This urban café is also a secondhand and vintage shop which produces fair trade food products alongside gifts, homeware and fashion. This well thought out venture demonstrates the caring yet quirky nature of Copenhagen. Situated on Sankt Peders Stræde, Fisk’s neighborhood and surroundings will also appeal to the culture vulture hunting for the local hang outs.
The project was developed by the DanChurchAid charity who source all the products sold in Fisk with their ethical purchase policy. The idea is ´purposeful purchasing’, every cent spent here is making a difference. The charity and shop are both run by volunteers and all the money made from Fisk goes towards developing countries helping to overcome poverty and suffering. Other schemes organized by the charity include ‘SKIFt’ clothing, a fair trade fashion collection. The range is a collaboration of responsible production and interesting designs.
Projects such as this can be found dotted all around the city. To find more local hotspots when you visit Copenhagen you should check out our apartment accommodation in Copenhagen.
