After browsing what feel like hundreds of art galleries, museums and other sightseeing attractions, you and your feet are probably in need of some much deserved rest and a short respite from the hustle and bustle of the big city.
Liquidrom is the perfect solution to this problem, and is you a truly relaxing but genuinely German experience. Imagine floating in a hardly lit pool, watching colors wash on the ceiling above you, while cool music is pumped through the water.
This urban spa in the city center is without a doubt one of the most beautiful thermal springs you will visit. With minimalist architecture and pictures showing what patterns are formed by different kinds of music, the Liquidrom keeps it simple but adds a twist.
The complex has 2 saunas (one Himalaya sauna and one big Finnish sauna), a classy steam bath, a big terasse with warm water, a thermal grotto, and most famously the liquidsound pool. Here you can float in saltwater and listen to cool music underwater. The music really is calibrated for underwater – above water sounding a little out of sync, it is crystal clear once your ears are below the surface. The music is mostly relaxing sounds like soothing electronic sounds or nature sounds like whale singing. In this part of the Liquidrom it is dark and only colorful floodlights occasionally highlight the surface. This pool is also the relaxing and silence pool, with a sign reminding you to please be silent in the front, really making it an oasis of relaxation. The atmosphere is warm and calming; this is the perfect half-day escape from the stressful capital.
The big relaxation pool is also called “Underwater Concert Hall” and offers live music on some nights. Just check the schedule, all different kinds of music are played, so there is definitely something for every kind of taste. Every Friday after 8 pm you can enjoy the live music in candlelit interiors, letting yourself drift away in warm waters.
Liquidrom is located in the heart of Berlin, just south of Potsdamer Platz. You can easily reach it by underground and exiting the Mockernstraße station.
